There's a reason our blood is more sensitive and reactive to carbon monoxide than to oxygen: it allows us to react quickly, escape the situation, get fresh air, and avoid intoxication.
So, when someone says you're too sensitive or reactive, be cautious. While that might be true, there's also a chance that the person is slowly intoxicating you—gaslighting you in the process. By the time you realize it, it might already be too late.
